| Wool Factory Quality Improved, Jobs Protected | | A Moldavian firm has improved its yarn quality significantly, fixing production problems, and protecting hundreds of factory jobs.
A Dexis spinning expert, as part of the USAID Competitiveness Enhancement and Enterprise Development (CEED) program, traveled to Moldova to assist a wool yarn producer with production problems that were impairing the quality of product delivered to its sole client, a Moldavian carpet manufacturer.
After assessing the spinning process, the expert determined that quality problems could be solved with minor adjustments to existing spinning machinery. He re-calibrated the equipment and trained staff on the method.
Yarn quality has improved significantly, eliminating defects to the carpet manufacturer\'s product. The solution has saved the yarn producer from spending millions in unnecessary process and procedure changes. Most importantly, it has protected several hundred jobs put at risk by the potential loss of the yarn producer\'s sole client.
