| Review of Investment Promotion Institutions in Yemen |
Summary Reviewed the mandate, administrative functions and complementary roles of relevant agencies related to investment promotion in Yemen.
Purpose To assist the government of Yemen in modernizing its investment promotion administration system to ultimately attract additional foreign direct investment into the country.
Activities Reviewed the four main functions of Yemen's investment-related agencies investment generation, facilitation, policy advocacy and image building - at the national and local level., focusing notably on the General Investment Authority of Yemen (GIAY).Identified overlap in anchor agency activities including the investment promotion agency and the free zones authorities.Advised on solution to address the GIAY's problems including realigning its mandate, clarifying the agency's role, vi-s-vis other stakeholders, addressing issues of good governance as well as strategic leadership on investment.
Results Proposed an action plan for the government of Yemen organized along four components: strategic leadership, good governance, organizational excellence, and linking core to outer core institutions. |
